The library hosts special events throughout the school year that provide opportunity for faculty involvement. Events have included:
Annual Trevecca Authors Display and Reception
The 7th Annual Trevecca Authors Display and Reception was held April 14, 2008.
This annual reception and display honors Trevecca faculty who have published during the school year.
This is usually held in April during National Library Week activities. To view the comprehensive list of Trevecca Authors click here.

Annual Fall Reading Festival
2006 theme was "Recognizing Freedom of Speech" and coincided with Banned Books Week. Excerpts from the following books were recorded on mp3 players and mounted on display boards in the Reference Room of the library. David Deese read from Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; Diana Hardin read from Catcher in the Rye; Jeff Frame read from Flowers for Algernon; student Jackie Spruill read from The Giver; Ruth Reynard read from Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone; Lena Welch read from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings; Henry Spaulding read from A Light in the Attic; Stephen Speer read from To Kill a Mockingbird and President Dan Boone read from A Wrinkle in Time.
All these books have banned or challenged in the nation's libraries at some time. Below are pictures from the 2006 celebration.

2005 theme was “Friendship in Literature” This event was held on the front porch of the library, classes were encouraged to participate. Professional Development Workshops
The library faculty are committed to providing professional development opportunities to faculty regarding current trends
and issues relating to higher education as well as information literacy sessions with faculty regarding the use of
electronic and print resources the library has available These Professional Development workshops are offered on an irregular basis.
Information about workshops will be communicated as soon as details are finalized.
Author Visits
Nationally
known children’s author Michael Shoulders visited
on Saturday, September 24, 2005 to speak with various education classes. Invited by Library and Information Science
professor Judy Bivens, Shoulders not only shared from the books that he has written, but he also stressed the importance of reading to students.
Using various creative methods, Shoulders shared a variety of children’s stories and authors. Capitalizing on audience participation,
Shoulders demonstrated for students how to incorporate music into booktalks by “rapping” to his first book V is for Volunteer.
Other works include M is for Magnolia, Count on Us, and N is for the Natural State and a soon to be published D is for Drum.
Shoulders is a former fourth grade teacher and later Director of Federal Programs for Montgomery County Schools.
He recently retired after thirty years of service. He received his Ed
D from
Shoulders is available to speak to school groups, teacher in-service programs and other groups.
