Locating Materials in Waggoner Library

 

          

PAC (Public Access Catalog) The online catalog or PAC, is the index to the majority of the library’s collection of books, journal holdings, and various types of media. The PAC is accessible from workstation in the library. You can access the PAC from any computer lab on campus or from the Library’s Web site on the Internet http://library.trevecca.edu/ Books are checked out from the Circulation Desk located on your left as you enter the main lobby of the library.  Your Trevecca I.D. serves as your library card.  Click here for a step by step guide to using the online catalog.

 

 

Information Services Area Located on the main floor of the Library is the Information Services Area.  This is where most research takes place.  Housed here are the online databases (ProQuest, EBSCO Business Source Premier and InfoTrac), and Internet access. The Reference Desk is manned by a librarian all hours the library is open.  Patrons receive assistance in research and technology questions. Flanking the Reference Desk are several PAC workstations. Periodical Services Waggoner library provides access to the periodical collection in several forms; full text online databases, microfilm back issues, current print collection as well as traditional bound journals.  There are 24 workstations available to research periodical literature as well Internet sources in the Information Services Area. 

 

Current paper copy magazines and back issues are located on the first floor of the Library along with bound periodical volumes and current issues of newspapers the Library subscribes. The Microforms room, also on the first floor, houses the back issues of journals on microfilm, a retrospective collection of the New York Times newspaper on microfilm, and the ERIC document collection on microfiche.  Coin operated reader/printers are available for viewing or printing.

Book Stacks   Waggoner Library has open stacks, meaning the patrons go to the shelves to get their books. Books are arranged on the shelves by subject according to the Library of Congress System (LC). You are able to print call number holdings from the PACs.  All circulating books are housed on the second floor of the library.     

 

Instructional Resources Center Located on the ground floor of the library, the IRC is a collection of books, journals, media, and other resources needed by students. The video collection is located here. Notebooks which list videos by title and department assist in locating videos and boxes.    Also housed here are media production materials for student use (scanner, digital video camera, CD burner). The IRC also houses PAC terminals and a digital photocopy machine.                                                                                                                     

 

Archives         Located on the ground floor the Trevecca Archives houses documents and memorabilia related to Trevecca’s history and the Church of the Nazarene.  Many documents are rare and require patrons to view them in the controlled environment.  Please call Andrea Gales at ext. 1349 or Karla Wardlow at ext. 1548 to schedule a time for research.
