Faculty Development at Trevecca seeks to support faculty through
orientation and mentoring, mini-grants for professional development,
lunch and learn discussions on special interests and book reviews.
Additionally, faculty can attend
an annual all-faculty workshop in the fall, and a working retreat in the
winter.
The FD program is organized and planned by the faculty
development committee which is assigned every year and consists of a representative
from each major academic area at Trevecca.
New faculty have ongoing support through orientations
sessions in the first two semesters of their first year and are assigned
a professional mentor. Mentors for
new faculty are assigned by the supervising department and are
encouraged to attend mentor/faculty lunches.
All faculty at Trevecca are encouraged to pursue ongoing professional
and academic development through collaborative efforts with colleagues,
and to engage in scholarly activity in research and writing as well as
encourage the same in students. To that end, Trevecca hosts a
faculty symposium each fall and a student symposium each spring.
Additionally, faculty may apply to the Research Committee for a
research grant to support their efforts. For more information,
please contact the Chair of that committee, Dr. Esther Swink at
ESwink@Trevecca.edu
